Secretary is a rare film carrying a positive message about BDSM. It is not erotic in nature and focuses more on the two characters. Sometimes, the cruel sexual preference is the only way to heal the pain in the hearts of people with BDSM syndrome, if it is placed in the right hands. Like the love between Lee and Edward.

In addition to the clever script, Maggie Gyllenhaal played an important role for the success of the “Secretary”. She produced the 50 shapes of Lee Holloway’s emotion, which were magical, lovely, pitiful, but admirable. With the beautiful face, the fiery body and the sweet voice of the big sister of the Gyllenhaal make you not stop love Lee in spite of her craziness.

“Secretary” was adapted from a novella in Mary Gaitskill’s 1988 book of short stories and was directed by directed by Steven Shainberg from Erin Cressida Wilson’s screenplay. It is released in 2002. It seems to be that the Secretary opened the door her later successes in the movie.
