I got another great update today. A scan of Maggie in the February issue of Vogue US have been added to the gallery. So stunning!

I got a treat for you today, I’ve found a copy of A Dangerous Woman – yes you know that movie that Maggie’s mother Naomi Foner wrote the screenplay for and his father Stephen Gyllenhaal directed, oh and her brother Jake Gyllenhaal also have a part in it. Well it’s been hard to find since it has never been released on DVD but… okay enough talk just check out the captures.

Classic Stage Company’s acclaimed new production of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Josh Hamilton, Jessica Hecht, Marin Ireland, Juliet Rylance and Peter Sarsgaard, has sold out its entire engagement through March 6. The siblings’ malady may linger on, though.

A spokesman for the not-for-profit CSC told Playbill.com that management is exploring options to extend the run. CSC has already announced its next production at its 199-seat East Village home: Double Falsehood, written by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher, adapted for the 18th-century stage by Lewis Theobald, and directed by Brian Kulick. That run is scheduled for March 11-April 3. It’s not clear if Double Falsehood might be bumped to later dates or perhaps to another venue, or if Three Sisters might find a new home.

Tickets were gone within 24 hours of the Feb. 3 Three Sisters opening, which got a raves from theatre critics.

Directed by Austin Pendleton, the production also features Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Anson Mount, Roberta Maxwell, Louis Zorich, George Morfogen, Paul Lazar, Gabriel Bettio and James Patrick Nelson.

The creative team includes set designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Marco Piemontese and lighting designer Keith Parham, with sound design and original music by Christian Frederickson and Ryan Rumery. Hair design is by Paul Huntley.

Three Sisters, the 1900 Russian classic about three siblings and their extended family of friends, servants and lovers — all of them aching to find love, purpose and a point to human existence — continues CSC’s “Chekhov Initiative” that began with The Seagull, starring Dianne Wiest and Alan Cumming, followed by their acclaimed production in 2009 of Uncle Vanya, which featured many of the cast members who appear in Three Sisters.

Now in its 44th year, CSC is the award-winning Off-Broadway theatre “committed to re-imagining the classical repertory for a contemporary American audience.” The company is led by artistic director Brian Kulick and executive director Jessica R. I’ve added this great video of Maggie talking about her Three Sisters character Masha and how she relates to her.

After scoring an Oscar nomination for Crazy Heart and starring in the third highest grossing film of all time (The Dark Knight), seeing a few familiar faces in the audience of an intimate off-Broadway theater should be no trouble for Three Sisters’ Maggie Gyllenhaal, right? Not so the actress tells Broadway.com.

“Opening nights are always sort of funny because everyone you love and know is always there, but that doesn’t necessarily make it easier,” Gyllenhaal said on opening night of the Classic Stage Company production of the Chekhov drama. “Sometimes it’s even harder to show what’s really in your heart in front of people you love. I would actually prefer to always perform in front of people I don’t know.”

Luckily for Gyllenhaal she doesn’t have to worry about husband Peter Sarsgaard watching her from the audience…instead he’s right on stage with her. Sarsgaard agrees with his wife’s sentiments: “Your relatives tend to laugh before anything is even funny,” he cracked.

During regular performances, in which Gyllenhaal doesn’t know as many audience members, she’s just thrilled to perform works of Anton Chekhov. “It’s so still true about the way human beings behave,” she says of the classic author’s writing. “I don’t know if I’ve every played anyone that I’ve related to more than [middle Prozorova daughter] Masha,” she says of her character.

And yes, one handsome, familiar face was in the house that night, Gyllenhaal’s heartthrob brother, Jake. We’re pretty sure he gave his sis a thumbs-up.
